Dental hygienist Sarah Holslag from Victoria has won Dental Protection's international Premier Award. Ms Holslag beat off completion from across the globe in the dental hygienists and the-rapists category with her project entitled; "Informed consent; Have you got it?"
Organised by Dental Protection in conjunction with Schulke, the Premier Award is an annual risk management competition with a total prize fund of $9,750.
The winners of the 2010 awards were announced at the Premier Symposium held in London in late December 2010.
Ms Holslag is based in East Malvern works at Caulfield Park Dentist. Part of her prize included a flight to London to receive her award. "Winning the Award has given me great encouragement to continue researching and writing and developing my career as an hygienist, and hope one day I can pass my knowledge onto others," she said.
This year's competition was of a very high calibre and Trevor Burke, Chair of Dental Protection, who presented the awards took time to encourage dentists and dental care professionals from across all 70 countries where DPL has members to participate again next year.
