The NSW DAA is proud to take the opportunity to partner with the ASID in presenting an exciting program for dental assistants and practice managers at the Oceania International Implant Congress in Sydney.
Implant dentistry is an area where an integrated team approach contributes highly to a good outcome. Dental implants have improved substantially in recent years and the need to maintain updated skills and knowledge is essential for all the members of the dental team. This informative congress program will provide the staff with information to build and promote their practices, understand the need for sterile techniques, follow the process of placing implants and impression taking and hear how appropriate care and maintenance of expensive implant equipment will prolong its life.
As infection control impacts on practices in the treatment room, in implant surgery, in cleaning, disinfection and sterilisation, it can be challenging for members of the dental team to keep up to date with all the various standards and guidelines relating to the practice of infection control in dentistry. We will look at some of the challenges facing the dental team over two sessions of the program.
The NSW DAA is a registered training organisation and is able to offer the opportunity for dental assistants who attend these two sessions to undertake a short assessment to gain a Statement of Attainment in "Comply with infection control policies and procedures in health work - HLTIN301A". This is one of the 8 compulsory units within the Certificate III in Dental Assisting. The assessment will be available to participants on Saturday at 5:30pm and should be completed within 20 minutes. An additional assessment fee is required to cover marking and issuing of a Certificate.
